I’ve got to admit two things about being nominated for the Vuelio Blog Awards 2017:
- When I found out I was nominated it really didn’t sink in .. I’ve only been blogging here since February. I know, I know, it says best newcomer award but you know what I mean.
- I hardly have any photos from the evening. I was having too much of a good time including intermittent bouts of sheer nervousness and panic at the thought of going up on the stage.
I am so happy to have been short-listed along with some other amazing blogs. Every single one of them such a strong contender in their own right.
In February when I launched this little blog I had absolutely no idea that anyone would even be the slightest bit interested in me. Now, I regularly get over 2,000 readers a month and growing. All grown organically I might add along with my followers.
I’ve had some amazing support along the way from other bloggers.
It’s been truly inspirational. Shout out here to two of them … the beautiful inside and out, Catherine of Not Dressed As Lamb and my lovely friend, Samantha Rickleton of North East Family Fun. These two amazing women each support me in different, wonderful ways each spurring me on. It’s a dream to have this kind of support, giving you more and more confidence every step of the way. If you’re just starting out as blogger you simply must seek out the fabulous community on Instagram.I wrote about some of them who have supported me from the start in my ‘Positive Side To Social Media’ post.
I’d also recommend you join as many Facebook groups as you can.
I have three amazing men in my life. My husband, Steve aka Mr B and my two sons, Declan and Patrick. I co write a lifestyle and business blog with Declan so it was only fitting that he was my plus one for the event in London.
Sounds like a right BAFTA speech now doesn’t it?
Big, big thanks to the Vuelio team and the judges for seeing that bit of stand out sparkle in me. What a happy lady I was at The Bloomsbury Big Top on Friday night. Can I just say as well … my award is gorgeous!!
And as if my night couldn’t get any better we were also seated at our table with the awesome Natasha Courtney-Smith. As soon as we were seated Declan and I hit it off with Tash and her partner, Alistair. I was like
“OMG I have your book!”
I’d read it and passed it on to Declan. It was on his bedside table as we spoke!! If you haven’t read it I suggest you do: The Million Dollar Blog.
It was even in my reading list post back in March.
I took it on holiday to Reykjavik which was where I read it.
So all in all a very eventful evening, don’t you think? If they had done acceptance speeches mine was gonna be simply …
“Because you don’t stop loving lippy at 35! Rockin’ it for the midlifers!!”
Thankyou to each and every one of you who takes the time out to read and comment either here on the blog or on social media.
Can I say it? ….. “I love you all!!!”
