Trying Something New | Veil Cover Cream

I haven’t been to that many blogger events of any kind yet. So when I was invited to a beauty event in my home town recently I jumped at the chance. The event in question was for Veil Cover Cream.

I knew nothing about the product other than the research I had done before attending. There was a lot of content and recommendations online about how great it was for giving full coverage for people with skin complaints such as Rosacea and Eczema. I also learned that it gave excellent coverage for anyone wanting to hide tattoos.

I was bowled over to learn  it was invented in 1952.

For over 60 years they’ve used the same formulation and process. Each product is formulated and mixed by hand. The only thing that has changed is that they have vastly expanded their shades.

The evening was designed to showcase how well it worked for the conditions it was already well known for but also to show us beauty junkies how it can work just as well in our own makeup routines.

The MUA at the event, Jo Leversuch, demonstrated two looks to us. I loved the fact that she explained to us all step by step how we could use Veil Cover. It was also fascinating to learn that she uses Veil at all the catwalk shows she works at. In fact, she was leaving the next day to work at LFW.

You’d be forgiven for thinking that the product would be thick and cakey when it’s job is to hide and camouflage. Far from it. Jo taught us that by using a beauty blender and small brush any type of cover can be created.

We were gifted a sample kit to take home with us to try out Veil ourselves and today I have. I used it exactly as Jo suggested. Mine was the light shades kit and it was perfect for my colouring. I mixed a couple of them together to get a match and blended from the kit onto the back of my hand first before using my blender to gently work the product onto my face.

I am super impressed with the coverage.

I managed to completely cover some marks that I’m very conscious of. They are pigmentation marks left from pregnancy that have never disappeared.

It felt very light and dewy on my face. Not at all how I expected it feel. I used my brush to use a lighter shade under my eyes — a bit like how I would use my Touche Éclat concealer.

This photo isn’t perfect. It’s Sunday afternoon in my bathroom and I hadn’t intended to test it out. It was a spare of the moment thing!

I’m happy though that it provided a nice light weekend look and I would be more than happy to try it again when I was putting on a full face for an evening out.

I loved the event. Not only for the education but how well it was planned. The setting was perfect and the little touches like the cakes and drinks were so cute.

It was a lovely opportunity to meet some local beauty bloggers. I chuckled to myself that once again I was the oldest one there but I love standing out from the crowd. For the right reasons of course .. the fact that I’m rocking it for the mid-lifers!! Yay!!!

You can try for yourself .. It’s only £7.99 for a sample kit and their website is a mine of useful information.

Let me know what you think if you’ve tried Veil. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I was invited to attend a press event for Veil Cover Cream and was gifted some samples to try out at home. For more information on my disclosure policy please read here.

I was at the event! I haven’t given the sample kit a go yet as I haven’t really had time to play around. It does look lovely and natural, though!
