I promised myself I would write a regular post about the beauty products I use and love but until now it hasn’t happened. At least I only promised myself and so only let myself down! Anyway, here goes, dear readers, the beauty products I’ve used and tried in July.
My mind has turned to holidays this month as Mr Bbed and I are hoping to fly off somewhere for a well deserved chill in September. We were last away in March to Reykjavik which was fab but now feels like a very long time ago.
My Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess always reminds me of fabulous holiday memories. The smell is divine and never ceases to put me in a happy mood. You know that feeling when other people are jetting off and you aren’t? Well a quick spritz of this will put you in the zone. It works for me every time. I’ve now seen that they also do a hair and body shimmer oil which I didn’t know about. I bet that is gorgeous, too. May have to investigate before the holiday.
I was also sent this tinted sunscreen to try out from a company called Frezyderm. I’d actually never heard of the brand before. It’s fab finding out about new beauty and skincare brands and products. That’s one of the things I’m finding I love about blogging. The brand is Greek in origin but now it’s products are becoming widely available in the UK. Before I was asked would I like to try the sunscreen I researched them and was pleasantly surprised to find out they offer a full range of skincare including baby care products. There’s a whole bunch of stuff I’m liking the sound of in their anti-ageing range.
The colour looks a bit scary to begin with but I was assured when I checked that it had been designed to suit all skin colours. It really does blend in well. Whilst I wouldn’t exchange it for my bareMinerals Complexion Rescue, I would defintely pop it into my holiday beauty bag. The velvet finish gives it a wonderful mattifying finish perfect for hot humid climates and it’s waterproof, paraben free and a 30SPF. Suitable for all skin types and ages. So many good things about it including the price point — £22.50.
Talking about tinted moisturisers. I’ve been using bareMinerals Complexion Rescue for a year or so now. I became a bareMinerals convert about four or so years ago. I dallied on the side lines about it for so long thinking a ‘powder’ foundation would be too drying for mature skin but in reality it’s nothing like that. I’ve never tried anything else since. So, when the Complexion Rescue came out I didn’t hesitate. I use it every day and now only use my Original Foundation over the top of it for my ‘out out’ makeup!
This month I switched up my Complexion Rescue from the natural shade to bamboo. It has a golden tone which is a perfect subtle, summer addition for my pale skin.
I’ve also used the last of my Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish in the Christmas Limited Edition. I have used this product consistently for what must be over ten years now. It comes with a muslin cloth and there isn’t a better feeling than taking all of your slap off at the end of the day with this. It’s easy to understand why its won so many prizes over the years. I have bought it for so many friends and family and they have all become addicted like me.
I’ve also been using Rimmel’s Wake Me Up mascara in Black. I’d had it for a while and never opened it .. like you do. It defintely gives a clump free application but I would describe it as my dress down eyes for when I want to have a natural no make up sort of look. I’ve also used it as a base for my other mascaras. This seems to work well.
I’ve been using The Body Shop’s Drops of Youth longer than a month but this is my first opportunity to tell you about it. What can I say? I am in love with it! You can feel it literally rolling off the dead skin. My skin feels gorgeous when I use it. I’ve been trying to use it weekly, sometimes even twice. It has much the same effect of glue drying and then rolling it off. I know that’s not a great description and some might be saying euurrghhh but I’m a bit addicted to that sensation of all the yuk rolling off. Call me strange!
I finally finished my Aldi Caviar Illumination Serum. I have a drawer full of Aldi skincare to work through. I just buy it when I see it knowing I will use it. I wasn’t overly impressed with the hype on this. I’m a lover of Aldi Lacura range but I am starting to feel like they are all one and the same. Although, I’m sure if they brought something new out again I would be fighting with my trolley around the aisles for sure. It’s just so good all of it really for the prices.
I’m almost out of my L’Oreal Pink-A-Porter Matte Addiction lippie, too this month. I have been ‘addicted’ to these lipsticks since they were launched earlier this year. I think a matte lippie is much more flattering for my lips these days. I’m just not into gloss any more since I discovered these. This shade is my go to for every day but I have Paris Cherry and Scarlette Silhouette, too.
The end of the month saw me picking up ‘my precious’! The latest eyeshadow palette hot off the press from Urban Decay called Naked Heat. This is my fourth palette and I love everything about them. I don’t really buy any other eyeshadows any more because these have everything I want. They have sold like hot cakes and are currently out of stock on Urban Decay’s UK website but I was on a waiting list at Debenhams. I would keep checking.
Mr Bbed dropped me off outside Debenhams and he couldn’t believe that I was actually queuing up to pick up eyeshadows.
Dedicated to the cause!!
That’s it for July. I’d love to hear from you in the comments if you have any experience of using any of the beauty products I’ve tried. Or tweet me at @MrsBbed to let me know about anything new you think this 50 plus bod needs to know about. xo
