Beauty Products Tried, Tested & Purchased | July 2019

I’ve been talking lots more about beauty products recently, it seems. I’ve always tried to look after my skin but I think I’m definitely interested more since I’ve been having some rejuvenation treatments with the lovely Kirsty at Saks Beauty.

All of the items from Boots No.7 range above were in one of those beauty gifts they do at Christmas. I’d forgotten I had  it and rediscovered it months later on my bedroom chair. If you follow my Instagram Stories I often talk about ‘the bedroom chair’  🙂

I’m just about on empty with almost all of them now  and I’ve got to say I’m not impressed. It’s not the first time I’ve used something from this range. I remember falling hook line and sinker when the Protect & Perfect products started coming out. Boots  stores all over the country had waiting lists. Obviously, I’m a sucker and had to buy into the mass buying hysteria like you do. It was a fair few years ago now so I can’t remember what the product was. I do remember, though, feeling fairly non plussed about my purchase and and never bought another product  from the range. Then ‘Santa’ brought me this.

I do realise though, that skincare is very personal and subjective so you’ve really got to try for yourself, I reckon. I really do not like the mascara, though .. at all.

My Two Recent July Purchases Were

  1. It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream

I’ve wanted this for sooo long. I’ve used bare Minerals Complexion Rescue in the Bamboo shade for years. I use it every day and as a base for my foundation when I’m doing my ‘out out’ makeup. I’ve been very happy with it and still am but I’ve read so much about It Cosmetics. When you have to shade match it’s so difficult to buy online for the first time,  isn’t it?

I decided to use the opportunity of our recent weekend in Leeds to make my way to the IT Cosmetics counter in Boots. As it turns out it was situated alongside the bare Minerals counter so I was able to swatch that on my hand and face too for the assistant to colour match the CC cream. Easier than it sounds, though. I ended up with ‘Light’ after much to-ing and fro-ing.

I was very keen because it has a SPF of 50+ whereas the Complexion Rescue is only SPF30.

I’ve just started using it this weekend so will no doubt give my feedback soon on my socials.

Another brand that’s all over that you might have heard of,  well, especially if midlife skin is your thing like me, is Prai Beauty. Again, I purchased it on my Leeds trip. Yes, even though I was with three grown men I still managed to shop 😉

I bought  from Marks & Spencer as they have some offers on to entice us midlifers in to try the range.

2. Eye Discovery Duo

These were the products I most wanted to buy. The pack contains 10ml each of the Ageless Eye D-crease and the Eye Tight Uplift Serum. It’s around my eyes that I’m most concerned  by. Although, again, since having the Dermalux treatments at Saks, less so.

3. Ageless Lip Line Filler

I’m developing more and more the inability to keep a lipstick on my top lip unless it’s a matte one. I don’t have lines per se but this new ‘super skill’ is very annoying. I’m hoping this might help.

4. Neck Lift Discovery Duo

This was a FREE gift as it’s new to the range. Well, free in the sense that you have to buy two Prai products to get it. As I was buying anyway it was a result!

The pack contains 15ml each of the Ageless Throat Créme and the Ageless Throat Concentrate. I don’t really have any problems … yet …  with my neck and throat area but better to start now, hey? Plus, I’m going on holiday next month so I thought it might be good to take. The décolletage area can become a tad parched in the sun, can’t it?

The offer is still on at M&S so why not join me in giving it a try? I’m excited to see if I can love this. I so don’t want to feel about it the same way I do about Protect & Perfect. I’m willing it to work.

What about you? Have you tried any of these products?

Boots overall can be quite pricey but sometimes it’s the only place you can get some brand here, Nancy xo

I’ll be inM&S tomorrow hunting that down- I’ve never rated the Boots products on my skin, Superdrug does some great skin products – generally for break outs etc (is that because it seems until recently geared towards teenage girls???). I love the range in M&S (they could do a stand alone little shop like their food shops but beauty – I’d be in there) although the one sad thing about that excellent department is there is no one to ask/advise. Normally I’m a kiehls and clarins woman in the main but I’m curious to try Prai out.

Lets compare notes, shall we, Juliet? Did you get any yet? My mum went looking today but the offer isn’t in store she was told .. only online now.

I do love a good M&S beauty hall. Just like I love a good mooch around a Space NK store xo

Here’s me thinking I was the only one, Hilda. You know what .. maybe it’s meant for younger skin but they don’t say so we’ll all buy it!! ha!ha!

Whilst I love the No7 range for make up i agree with you about their skincare. That set (which i bought myself before xmas) had a lot of duds in, that facemask (the peachy looking one with the swirls of gel running through it) is just awful and greasy, i would never buy it full price and the eyemake up remover is no better than water!

I know what you mean about that particular product, Helen. It’s a face moisturising mask type thing. I can’t give it away. It’s the one out of the box I didn’t use all the way through. Passed it around the family, even my mum, and everyone has given me it back. I’ve seen people rave about it in reviews so I guess that’s why we are all suckers for keeping spending and trying stuff!! 😉
