*Gifted Experience  I was invited to try this treatment by Kirsty at Saks Beauty in Northallerton, North Yorkshire. As usual always my own thoughts and words.

Here I am prepped and ready to have my very first Dermalux LED Treatment At Saks Beauty in Northallerton.

Honestly, blogging has made me braver than ever.

Never, EVER  did I think I would publish a massive photo of me with no makeup on.

I met a lovely lady called Angela at my Midlife Banter talk. We got on like a house on fire and she told me that she must introduce me to Kirsty who then invited me to her salon to chat about facial treatments  for midlife women like me.

I was keen to learn what was on the market now for women like me going through hormonal highs and lows along with the ageing process.

I look after my skin as best I can and have for a long time. Although naturally auburn haired before allowing my silver to take over my skin doesn’t match up with it. It  would be more suited to me being a red head. You know the type .. burns in the sun, turns red and then back to pale and freckly. I have some age spot issues and so I’ve been using SPF skincare and makeup in various guises for as long as I can remember.

I’ve never really been one for facials, though. First up, I don’t really relax very well. Secondly, I always thought having facials was rather lavish and for those who have lots of spare cash. My priorities until my 50’s weren’t really about things like this for myself.

A bigger reason was that I never  felt very impressed by the facials I had tried. A bit of a scrub and a massage felt like a waste to me.

The minute I stepped into Kirsty’s gorgeous salon though I realised that things had moved on … A LOT.

Everything looked very scientific. Not a scrub mitt in sight!

Here’s Kirsty examining my skin after she’d removed my makeup and cleansed me to within an inch of my life. She was pretty pleased with my skin’s elasticity and its ability to bounce back for its age. Yay!

She asked me what concerns I had. Mostly, I’m pretty happy apart for some lines at either side of my mouth but the thing I  really really hate is a big pigmentation mark at my right temple.

She told me she can rid me of this!!!!

More on this later.

She said that my skin was a little red and flushed looking. I’ve noticed this recently and we agreed it seemed hormonal.

The treatment she recommended for my first visit was the Dermalux LED Treatment. The ‘Energise’ version. It’s a light therapy treatment which has been clinically proven to be beneficial in skin rejuvenation. It combines infra red and near infra red wavelengths to recharge the skin.

Here I was .. yes that’s me under there. 20 minutes worth of light treatment underway. Not painful at all and felt just like lying in the sun on a warm summer day  … without any sweatiness. Just lovely and warm. That feeling of the first rays of sun touching you. That nice feeling. Hmmmm.

Made even more relaxing by Kirsty massaging my hands and arms while I laid there. At least I think it was her!! Lol!

A course of treatments is recommended for anyone who has skin issues that they want to tackle and improve and is recommended weekly over 10 weeks or 10 treatments over a five week time frame for clients without time restraints. Kirsty explained its success for clients who suffer with acne, too. Spots aren’t just a young person’s problem. When those hormones start playing havoc in midlife it’s not unusual to have breakouts.
The cost of the treatment is £42 per session and they offer a discount when purchasing a program.
This was me two days later at the weekend. I’d shared some photos the following morning on my Instagram stories. I shared with my followers on there that my husband had commented that I looked fresh and not as tired as I’d been looking. Result!! After only one treatment, too.
I think my décolletage  area needs some attention looking at this picture though …. mmmmm.

Sign me up, Kirsty!!

Kirsty has invited me for some more sessions my work diary permitting so that I can share how improved my skin can become with more of the Dermalux.

The most exciting thing for me, though, is that she is confident she can rid me of my pigmentation mark on my right temple. I’ll be sharing all about that process when it happens. It won’t be until after my holiday in late September. Kirsty explained that it’s not recommended in the summer time and so obviously make sense to do after I’ve spent time in the sun.

Don’t worry, you’ll be the first to hear all about it. If she can rid me of it I’ll be a major convert. I’m half way there already just after this.

What I particularly liked about my visit too was Kirsty’s attention to detail. I didn’t have to scare anyone being makeup free. I left with a light makeup. Nobody needed to know where I’d been for the last hour.

It’s my new guilty pleasure.

Saks Beauty in Northallerton is one of only a handful of salons in the whole of the North East that offers Dermalux Phototherapy. They do have a website but to be honest it’s not the easiest of sites to use … the font is very small.  Their Facebook page will be more helpful and they post daily about their treatments, news and latest offers: Saks Beauty Northallerton.

I can’t say I relaxed very much Tracey as this is all new territory for me but I’m all for upkeep especially like you say when now they can easily get rid of stuff you don’t want!! xo

I can applaud your bravery but at the same time I have to say I thing your skin is fabulous before (and possibly/probably even better looking after), I think it is high time we stopped the feeling as though we shoudn’t/mustn’t/wouldn’t or couldn’t – we need to get out there and try these things, share our experiences and bluddy well enjoy every minute. No guilt. You look glorious and you deserve your treat

I trust your judgement, Kerry as I know you know your stuff. Another blogger friend, Hilda, has been raving about Dermalux treatments too. xo

I’m like you. I don’t tend to do facials and beauty treatments a lot. This sounds great though and if it improves any imperfections then I’d definitely give it a go. My décolletage isn’t great with all the years of sun damage. Your skin looks amazing.

Yes I’m thinking more investigation of these sorts of ‘upkeep’ treatments might be worth some time, Alison. Thankyou xo
