When the team at Bonmarché got in touch with me I’ll be truthful in thinking we wouldn’t be a fit.
I didn’t think they were my cup of tea. They were a brand that occasionally my 76 year old mum shopped at. I’d never bought anything from them.
But I thought I’d give them the benefit of the doubt and look again.
My challenge was to pick a weekend outfit that I could quirk up to suit my style and I was pleasantly surprised to say I think I have.

I teamed my outfit with my bag that I nearly put in the charity bag last year, can you believe? Along with my trainers that I bought from Next late last year. They are available again for this season, too. They are from their ‘Forever Comfort’ range but so far are anything but!
It’s that bit at the back right right where your Achilles is 🙁 I’m hoping my feet will acclimatise to them as they are glittery gorgeousness, aren’t they?
I love the detail on the jacket especially the pearl buttons on the 3/4 sleeves. Isn’t it pretty?
The fabric is that lovely crepe, too which gives it the look and feel of a jacket that would normally be a lot more expensive.
I’ve got to say that I was pleasantly surprised at the level of quality of the pieces.
The leggings are that lovely stretchy fabric and feel really snug and comfy on. The side stripe brings them bang up to date, I think

I think it’s a perfect Spring time weekend outfit. This was actually me on Mother’s Day last weekend.
‘Under £60 For This Outfit’
That’s very impressive for the quality.
I’m not saying Bonmarché are going to be my regular go-to but it’s definitely taught me to look again at brands I’d potentially written off as maybe being old fashioned or poor quality. The pieces I chose are neither old fashioned or poor quality. Completely the opposite in my opinion. Size wise they stock from 10 to 28 so a broad choice.
My mum is even interested in Bonmarché again. Although, she did say that what she’d seen in store definitely doesn’t match up with what I’d shown her online. So maybe that’s something the brand needs to address. I know I wouldn’t probably visit a store. Even shopping online it takes patience to really spend time and look.
Their pieces seem to be fairly well curated and the best things don’t hang around for long. My red shirt has been out of stock twice since I received mine a few weeks ago.
All of the items I’m wearing are either currently on offer or have gone in their mid season sale so worth a look.
What do you think? Have you shopped in Bonmarché or is there another brand that when you’ve looked twice at you’ve been surprised by?
