Summer Lovin’ At Turtle Bay

It really does pay to try new things doesn’t it? I’d never really tried Caribbean food, hand on heart, not even when I’ve visited the Caribbean. That all changed, though, when I was invited to the opening of our local Turtle Bay restaurant earlier in the year so when I got the chance to sample their new summer menu I didn’t need asking twice.

I took Mr Bbed along too as he hadn’t had the Caribbean social experience. He kept asking did they do goat curry. OH–Kayyyy!

Happy Hour

Do go when it’s ‘Happy Hour’ – they are 2-4-1. We had two lots each of the ‘Reggae Rum Punch’ and the ‘Marley Mojito’ .. lush!!

Let Me Begin

We kicked off with the ‘Vital Veggie Platter’. Oh my this is really lovely.  Okra, which was a first for both us, grilled mushrooms and peppercorns, sweetcorn fritters. Colour on a plate and very tasty.

The Mains

Next up, Mr Bbed’s wish came true. Goat curry was on the menu. He said it wasn’t the best he’s tried — not sure how many he HAS  tried! He pronounced the meat a bit tough. He still demolished it, though. I was oh so safe with a ‘Two Way Chicken Burger’. Not the most exciting choice on the menu but it was what I fancied and it was tasty. I ordered a side of ‘Pineapple Chow’. I loved this on my first visit. I was told people either love or hate it and I loved it so I knew Mr Bbed would be intrigued. It’s a real taste sensation of marinated diced pineapple, coriander, garlic, fresh lime juice, scotch bonnet. It got the vote.

Something Sweet

I can never pass up a dessert. Look at this baby — Passion Pie. My mouth is watery over that citrusy passion fruit curd again writing this! What am I like? Seriously, though if you like a bit of sugar you won’t be disappointed. Mr Bed swigged a cider while he watched me eat. The only disappointment was the coffee. I’d skip this next time. I think cocktails are defintely their thing.

The Turtle Bay chain of restaurants are so colourful interiors wise – real happy vibes type places to hang out. The staff are very friendly and just the right side of attentive.

This is the  type of dinner I’d like to eat just before I set off on holiday. You know that meal I mean? You’re all packed and ready to jet and you decide to eat out before you leave? THIS is THAT place for me — gets you in full holiday mode.

There are over 30 restaurants in the chain nationwide so there’s sure to be one close to you. I’d love to hear if you’ve ever tried and what you think of Turtle Bay.

Turtle bay is one or my favs. From the sea container loos to tin plates to the rums to the banana puddings to the jerk chicken to the cocktails. …
    I could go on.

We really enjoyed Turtle Bay and think the kids would like it too so will include them on our next visit! Goat curry sounds interesting but anything in a curry is good with me!

You’ll have to pay a visit to your local Turtle Bay, Vanessa ๐Ÿ™‚ Is there one near you? xo

  4. Oh I 100% agree that eating here before going on holiday is the thing to do, I don’t think anywhere else would get you quite into the holiday spirit like Turtle Bay!

The dessert looks divine. I really wanted to try it when we visited last week but I ended up eating too much for starter and main so couldn’t manage it. Ooops!
