How I Styled My Rainbow Christmas Tree

How I Styled My Rainbow Christmas Tree

A rainbow themed Christmas Tree is never a phrase that I thought would describe my festive style. While I’ve always loved to collect quirky Christmas decorations as the years have passed by, it’s only since we’ve lived in our Victorian semi {5 years now} that I’ve embraced more colour. Heck, I even bought a faux tree last year after buying real trees since our very first home in December 1988.

I can’t believe how much I have changed. Our lovely old house has done this to me it seems.

This year I was pretty much ready to dress the rooms the way I had last year. We have three trees these days. The main one in the sitting room in the big bay window, another one in the snug and then the twig tree I customise cobble together every year for the dining room wall.

How To Customise A Wall Hanging Christmas Tree

I always add to my decoration collection each year. We either buy them on our travels throughout the year or I top up mostly from supermarkets to be fair. I particularly like John Lewis and Rockett St George for baubles and inspiration.

One late October Saturday afternoon I was having a mad dash looking for new bauble inspiration around our local shopping complex. The UK was about to go into a month long COVID lockdown ‘fondly’ known as Lockdown 2. I knew this year was not the year to leave buying things like new tree lights to the last minute. A month of shops being shut would mean it would be like a bun fight come early December re-opening time.

And so it was then that I spied my rainbow beauty from afar. I had never seen a rainbow Christmas tree before. At only five feet I  knew she would be small for the sitting room bay window position but I knew I had a small table she could sit on. I had to have her.

Weird how I’ve referred to an inanimate object as a she. But a she she is.

When I got home Mr B exclaimed, ‘Another tree?’ ‘Yes, but this one’s special. She’s going to brighten everyone’s day when they see her!’

Next I planned out how she would look.

I bought two boxes of these neon disco baubles from Argos. Cheap as chips to flesh out.

I then collected together all my quirkiest and most colourful baubles including my new 2020 purchases.

Macarons from TK Maxx. The leopard  – an essential for any discerning leopard print lover. New but for the life of me I can’t remember where from. It all seems like a blur that mad, bauble shopping spree I went on.

Glitter and sequin peacock last year. Pink dinosaur from Asos by Sass and Belle.

Sprinkles bauble last year from River Island.

Pink felt poodle this year from John Lewis.

Pink car with gold Christmas tree – Home Bargains this year.

Bambi portrait decoration this year from Muck N Brass.

There’s a few flamingos hiding, too. I used to be a bit flamingo obsessed but think I’ve grown out of it!

And there you have her with all her glory once the fairy lights were added. Oh, and I had no idea what topper so added this silver foil decoration and I think it looks like it was made for her.

The rainbow stars I’ve hung from the windows are John Lewis this year, too.

What do you think? Love? Hate? It’s okay if anyone doesn’t like her. It wouldn’t do for us all to like the same would it? I can’t begin to tell you the joy I’ve had from the neighbour’s kids passing by and hearing them go … ‘wow!!!’. Cheers up the grey days for the parcel man and postie, too.

She’s a good match for my Christmas door wreath isn’t she? ?

Lots of Christmas love and stay safe

I don’t think that I’ve told you enough how much I love this tree! ❤
And now I’m going to have to find a way to incorporate the phrase “cheap as chips” into my daily life here in America. ?

Thankyou so much for always taking the time to support my efforts xo
